I really want to love Demiplane. There are just a few items that have me liking it instead. I mainly use it for Starfinder, though I have briefly looked into a couple of other products. I have purchased some of the Pathfinder and Starfinder books and am currently running a Starfinder campaign.
My issue is the printout. Most of my players are new to RPGs let alone Starfinder. When I print out the character sheets, the complete lack of feat or spell descriptions puts a real hamper on usability for new players. They find it hard enough to know what they can do as new players. Without descriptions they are always asking what their possible actions mean. As a result, I have had to supplement with Pathbuilder and Starbuilder.
If that is something that is in the works, I will continue to do as I have until it comes out. Then I will gladly subscribe. If it is not planned, please allow me to beg that it becomes a plan.
The only other issue I have is with speed. The website is super slow, no matter the machine I use. When I click a button on the virtual character sheet, I sometimes have to wait over 5 seconds for anything to happen. I fervently hope that this is also on the plan to fix.
Hi @FlaminMonkeyPants – These types of posts help a great deal. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to share this with the team.
Two responses for you:
We’re always pretty cautious when it comes to breaking the mold of existing formats on paper character sheets. We’ll need to do so to get the degree of information being requested by you (and others - you aren’t alone and we see the feedback!) onto the print outs. We’ve been trying to finesse it to date - perhaps it’s time to call it what it is and provide it as a more straightforward attachment.
We have been “under the hood” on performance related improvements to both sheet loading time and response time within the sheet. This performance work + homebrew is the top priority for the team. This performance work will benefit Demiplane characters no matter where they are played - mobile, desktop/laptop, Roll20 VTT, etc.
Not the OP, but just wanted to chime in with a hearty thumbs up to the idea of having printable attachments that detail feats, spells, class abilities. That would be awesome.
Thanks for your reply.
I think Attachments would be a great way to go. Maybe even a print button from the spells tab or the feat tab, so they can be printed on an as needed basis. I appreciate the time you guys take to listen to feedback, thank you.
