I dove into demiplane because my friend likes it and because it was the only character builder for Starfinder2e. I have been shocked that it can take seconds to load a tab/view switch. Going from the character page to the character builder takes seconds.
I figured maybe it was my ten year old computer. Nope my brand new 64GB RAM computer with latest generation Intel processor has the same problem.
As a computer scientist who programs web pages, this is shocking to me.
I can understand a long upfront load time to get the application and data into the cache. But the day to day operations are … shockingly slow.
Are there any steps known to ameliorate this issue? Settings? Preferred browser?
If you’re experiencing slowness on a character sheet I unfortunately don’t have any steps to take to try and resolve it. We’re constantly working to improve load speeds but testing myself on Firefox with Pathfinder 2 (our most load intensive nexus) I was able to switch tabs and open drawers within about 1 second. Going from the Character Sheet to the Character Builder however does take some time as there’s information that has to load when preparing to make changes to the character sheet, when I was testing a few moments ago this was about five seconds. We have on occasion had issues that result in longer than normal load times but when that happens I’m usually able to duplicate the results on my end.
I don’t believe there’s a specific recommended browser though most of us use either Firefox or Chrome and there aren’t any settings to change that might improve load speeds. Ultimately I’m sorry you had a bad experience and I’ll pass the information you provided on so that we can work to continue on optimizing the sheet and builder.
