See attached image. After changing the Ancestry from Dwarf to Gnome (after filling in the Dwarven options), the Dwarven Heritage becomes an unchangable artifact as a ‘Gnome Heritage’

Something similar happens to ability boosts - selected ability boosts remain, and any number of ability boosts can be selected, e.g., here is the opposite, changing from Gnome to Dwarf:
