Hi, I’m creating a Human Soldier in the Starfinder character creator. Soldiers get martial weapon proficiency.
For my human heritage, I selected versatile, and for the general feat, I select weapon proficiency. This should grant one advanced weapon proficiency, since I already have martial
It does show a field for “Weapon Proficiency - Select Item” but it is totally blank. No weapons show up. There’s a search bar, but typing in it does nothing. I can’t select an advanced weapon to be proficient in.
I can add an advance weapon on the character sheet, but the calculated attack bonuses are wrong, since it thinks I’m using a weapon I don’t have proficiency in.
From a little bit of testing I just did this might be a system limitation. Just in case there’s a way to do it though I’ve filed a ticket for our dev team to investigate further.
In the meantime what I would recommend doing is editing the Advanced Weapon that you’re taking proficiency in to add that proficiency bonus. You can do this by navigating to your equipment tab > clicking on the name of the weapon > then in the drawer that pops up on the right hand side you’ll click the three dots in the corner followed by Edit Item > adjust the attack proficiency section as needed > hit the back arrow or the x in the upper right of the drawer.
Let us know if you run into any other trouble though and we’ll be happy to help!
Thanks for the response! I will use that workaround until it’s patched.
There seems to be another bug relating to soldiers: they have Walking Armory class feature, which allows using CON mod instead of STR for meeting armor requirements. I see no way to turn this on, and it does not function by default.
If you create a soldier with +0 STR and +4 CON, for example, you will see that equipping an armor with a +1 or greater STR requirement still applies the check penalty to skills. Walking Armory should prevent the penalty though.
I looked at the code for Walking Armory and it seems that one is definitely a system limitation. We add a note to your armor class drawer to remind you of it but it seems that you’ll have to manually adjust for it, for now at least.
