It’s possible to not name a character which means the deletion process doesn’t make a lot of sense in that case because there is nothing to type in order to delete the character. It does accept nothing if you press space and back in the name field.
Adding a space then backspace on the space is indeed a way to delete a character with no name (its how I delete all my nameless characters as well)
With that said, that is of course not the ideal solution long term, but will let you delete them for now as we finish building out that side of things.
You can also rename the character and then delete it
