So a couple weeks on I guess, we finished up the first floor two sessions ago, skipping the wings that weren’t necessary, and then last week headed down to the basement. Those hell hounds did a good amount of damage with their breath weapons! Talked with zombie in corner and I had him just hand over the bag of holding rather than direct them back upstairs… a treasure room later we descended into the roots of the Tan Sugi cedar tree to see at last, Xin Yue… and that’s where we’ll pick up next time.
Feedback… Mostly my endless quixotical quest for GM tools
- I’ve advocated for custom condition toggles for players but I would also love status toggles for creatures too when we get an encounter builder … Our bard has swapped from using courageous anthem to preferring dirge of doom and while I have indicators to drop my tokens to remind me about frightened 1, there’s some overhead in remembering to apply status conditions to checks.
- I’ll advocate again for a GM screen or maybe updated listings for creatures with say “mouseover creature level to popup recall knowledge skill and DC” since our thaumaturge is always checking recall knowledge against enemies and the most common thing I need to lookup is creature level to recall knowledge DC … making it a mouseover feature on creature listings would probably solve 60-70% of what I need the screen for in practice. Because the DCs aren’t linear I can’t just calculate it and sometimes I need to check what skill should be used for the creature type (what is for oozes? e.g.) this is one place that my printed paper screen is absolutely necessary, even at the digital tabletop
- I’m using milestone for the current two campaigns, SKT and SoG, but I’m looking at Kingmaker for one of the followup campaigns and it just makes more sense to use experience points for the non-linear nature of that campaign. In testing out kingmaker solo play, I see that the current experience is fairly hidden and I think if there was a way for players that did have experience points as a bar or something on the sheet it would really help players to have a feel of progress being made and anticipation that leads to excitement to explore.
- speaking of the solo play kingmaker experience… I made the characters with mythic toggled on and it seems to be working really nicely so far, where I was kind of expecting a little jank… so kudos to a smooth implementation!
- I’m using the companions from the companion guide (well, Amiri, Linzi and Valerie for now). I rebuilt them from scratch but it would be nice if they were in the pre-gen characters … at each of the levels in the companion guide (… also didn’t see where in the gear menu to upgrade Amiri’s bastard sword to a Large bastard sword XD XD XD )
