So, I saw that there were some new entries added to the Starfinder Society / Invasion’s Edge category, which is nice to see. I was looking at grabbing them and figured the bundles have treated me right when I’ve used them before. But the bundles cost more than buying the 4 titles individually would. Is there an extra cost beyond the price of the books when buying a bundle? Or am I having a charge for some product not listed, but included? Those is my general questions. If you want to see the math and specific costs I’m seeing, they follow.
There’s only the 4 new titles from the Starfinder Society - Invasion’s Edge category. I do not see anything else in any of the Starfinder lists that i do not already own. I assume that the Starfinder 2E Ultimate Bundle includes everything in the Invasion’s Edge Bundle. If not, then things are even odder, since I have everything shown under the Ultimate Bundle section. I did grab the Starfinder Playtest Content Bundle, which is why I’m showing a 25% discount on the 4 titles. Those titles normally run 9.99, but are showing 7.49. If I bought them all individually at that price, it would cost 29.96 before any applicable taxes.
But both bundles are showing a price larger than not only the price of those 4 individually but more than if they were applying their own discount. The Starfinder 2E Ultimate bundle is saying it will be 34.14. If that bundle was going off the full price of those 4 books, applying the 25% off that that bundle provides would be a total of 29.97. This is just a cent off the price of them individually with the discounts the books are showing. One penny is probably the difference between adding the four books together full price and discounting that total versus discounting the individual books and adding the discounts up. In other words this is pretty close to what the four would cost individually at the discount they appear to have. But again, the shown price for the bundle is higher at 34.14.
Getting the Invasion’s Edge bundle says it would be 34.96. Again, the 20% off that this bundle’s discount would provide to the books at full price instead of what is shown brings it down to 31.97. Again, higher than than buying the books individually, but this also makes sense because the discount provided by that bundle is smaller.
Now, I am certainly willing to grab the books individually. I seem to be on the best discount offered for this game. I am sure the discounts for having multiple bundles would not stack. Because that’s insane discount build up from the 3 bundles. I mean, I’d love 70% off, but that is a good way to have this place go broke.
In any case, I am good to go with buying the 4 titles separately instead of grabbing a bundle,. I’ll probably do that as soon as I send this… Hopefully if there is something released as far as the bundles are concerned but not shown on the page yet, I imagine that will solve itself when it gets the rest of the way released. I just wanted to let you know that i looks like the bundles are doing something funny for Starfield. Hard to fix something if you don’t know something is not working right. If there is a startup cost to get the bundles because they provide an ongoing discount, I missed seeing that mentioned, so that should probably be fixed. I can’t imagine I’m the only gamer who sometimes (often?) fails a perception roll…
