When using focus builder attacks from Demiplane sheets, Focus spent to raise Damage Bonus is adding the same amount to the dice roll to hit as it is to the Damage Bonus. Am I wrong thinking it’s only supposed to add to Damage Bonus?
I’m not certain how this is supposed to work off the top of my head so I’ve gone ahead and put in a ticket for further investigation. If it’s not working correctly we’ll get it fixed!
Effect: The character makes an Ego check with an edge against the Agility defense of a target in their line of sight. For this attack, add +1 to the character’s Ego damage bonus for every 2 points of Focus they spend. On a success, an affected target takes that total damage. On a Fantastic success, an affected target takes double that total damage and is stunned for one round.
This ability on the demiplane sheet has two fields to set, 1 for the amount Focus you want to spend and another to toggle the ability on to make sure it outputs its effects on damage. It works correctly for the first part adding half the Focus spent to damage when rolled, but it is also adding the same amount to the roll to hit. Normally the damage bonus is equal to the ability it relates to, in this case EGO, When rolling to hit, your ability score is added to the d616 roll to determine a successful hit.
EX: At rank 2 with a 5 EGO your roll to hit is equal to 3d6+5 doing damage equal to dM x 2 + 5 (+half the Focus spent). The Demiplane sheet also adds half the focus spent on the roll to hit. If you spend 10 Focus (max for rank) the roll to hit outputs as 3d6 +10.
This issue sound similar to the one posted in Discord where any bonus to damage (not just from spending Focus on some powers like Elemental Blast, but also stuff like Attack Stance toggled on or just modifying damage manually) will apply the same bonus to attack rolls with the dice roller when using the Damage box at top right of the sheet.
