Hello everyone!
I am looking to run an Avatar Legends game set in a homebrew era at around 5000 years BG. The era is heavily centered around the early cradles of civilization after humans left behind the lion-turtles and the conflicts between humans and spirits as well as tensions between different tribes and settlements who have only begun to interact within the last few generations. The Avatar is a mythic figure whose true purpose is not fully grasped by humans. For a real-world equivalent, we’re talking the Bronze Age. Very early beginnings of human civilization.
All in all, it’s an era pretty far removed from both Wan’s era and that of the more ‘recent’ eras (with Yangchen having been around less than 1000 years before Aang to put things into perspective). This means none of the nations have been established and it essentially opens up for us to build the world as we want. I have outlined a bit of a framework that includes the themes of the setting and some basic information about the ancestors of the different nations in a document I’m happy to share with interested players. I would like to set the game in either the early city-states that is the foundation for the Earth Kingdom or the islands that would be the cradle for the Fire Nation.
I am looking for 3-4 players for this game of any experience level when it comes to the system. What matters most to me is for my players to engage with the world, with its people and with each other. I’m also looking for those interested to participate in the worldbuilding. Have an idea for a city-state within the proto-Earth Kingdom or a group of would-be Air Nomads? Specific locations? Yes please! I love collaborative worldbuilding. I would expect to likely have some one-on-one time with each players once character creation is finished in session 0 to really flesh out where they come from.
As a DM, I have about 7 years of experience running TTRPGs for different groups. I’ve run a number of the Avatar: Legends one-shots and I am currently a player in a game set during the 100 Year War. I tend to favor systems that focus on roleplay and character relationships and struggles. My games are LGBTQ±friendly as I am queer myself and my games include a diverse cast of NPCs. I also love working with the ideas and concepts my players bring to the table and making it work in the setting. For Avatar: Legends specifically, you can also expect a DM that will try their best to do research into the time period the setting is associated with and make it come to life and feel believable and immersive.
If this game sounds like it would be something for you, shoot me a message even if it is just to learn more. Please include which schedule works for you (Saturday or Sunday). I hope to hear from some of you all!
