Incomplete Character Sheets for Amnesia-style games

Hi there,

At the moment, we can’t save a character sheet without completing all the creation steps. This limits game styles where amnesia or uncovering your character’s skills is the driving force behind the game progression.

It would be great if we could proceed to saving and sharing without having necessarily completed all stages of character creation.

Unless I’m misunderstanding something you can theoretically do this as it currently stands. You can manually click between any section within the builder and you can always click out of the builder and into the character sheet to share at any time.

The way I assume it would work is that you’d fill out the information you know for certain about your character, then click out to the character sheet, share the character to your GM, and then let them make a copy of the character to finish out the specifics.

I didn’t see that on the left hand panel, as I’ve been looking at the buttons in the character creator in the middle panel. Thanks for pointing out my oversight!

I guess for this style of game, a Storyteller would need to have two copies of the chronicle - one with the blank sheets that the player’s have access to, and on with the completed character sheets to reveal to the players…

It is an interesting play style for sure. One of the other aspects of the Demiplane VtM of which you might or might not be aware is the ability to copy characters (making a duplicate).

Obviously, you could procede in various ways, but one option is creating the full character (change the name to “Mina Harker (Storyteller)” then copy the character sheet entirely… call the second one “Mina Harker (Player)” and, prior to giving it out, erase all of the aspects you do not want the player to have due to Amnesia. In this fashion, you have the original and the player only has the information you give them.

At present, on my own listing I am attempting to get them to have Human (Mortal) and Human (Ghoul) Character Options which you would get when your purchased the Players Guide in which the base rules for creating Human (Mortal) and Human (Ghouls) are introduced. It would be a toggle option in much the same manner as “In Memoriam” had the toggle option for the more detailed and much better character creation for “Ancilla.”

In any case, best wishes on your amnesia run.

Yeah - I have another game where all the party are ghouls, and not being able to use Demiplane is really hindering me helping new players who work better off digital tools. I hope they integrate those character options soon, as they’ve been available from the Companion and Player’s Guide for a while now.

I agree. I surpised that they were not included in their original offering of the Players Guide. It’s such an important aspect of a lot of play, granted not all, but a lot -

  • List item - one of the best story arcs is players starting as mortals or ghouls, and then being embraced.
  • List item - ghouls are a fundamental offering, especially in absence of permission to embrace your own vampire.
  • List item - NPC (not throw away foes) and Deadly-Dangerous Allies, who are not kindred, requires it.

I am sure that I am preaching to the chore. Thanks, for the support, best wishes
