If you select an equipped item to open up the Item Sidebar, the rest of the page will be locked until you click the little X at the top right corner of the sidebar.
It would be good/helpful if clicking elsewhere on the page or a different feature either still worked with the sidebar open or closed the sidebar.
The sidebar also removes its exit/close option as it scrolls downwards so this could be potentially confusing.
