Introduction: They say Wreythau is a place where even the crows have forgotten how to laugh.
An island scabbed over with plague and prejudice, prowled by beasts half-born of nightmare and men who are worse. At its heart lies a city long dead, a capital hollowed into a necropolis. It is ruled—or perhaps merely haunted—by the Dead Emperor, a corpse who still clutches the reins of power, his will carried out by a council as pitiless as winter and twice as hungry. His fleets drift along the coasts, not conquering, but shifting wealth like blood from one vein to another—forever cautious, never daring to plunge into the continent’s dark interior, where the beastmen wait in their unnumbered hordes.
But the church fares no better. The Morning Lord’s bright promise has curdled into a holy fire that burns too freely. The Inquisition wages its war not upon the walking dead, nor upon the slavering beastkin, but upon angels themselves. Aasimars are hunted through the streets, condemned as heretics, accused of bringing Wreythau’s blight upon its people. The faithful whisper that heaven has turned its face away.
Yet from the shadows of this empire, something stirs. A queen long forgotten begins to wake. Her reign never ended; it merely slept. Now she claws her way back from the silence, threading herself into the marrow and blood of the Daverous Empire, until the land itself beats once more with her will.
