Hello! Longtime GM Looking to Learn Daggerheart
Hi everyone,
I’m a longtime Game Master (30+ years of DMing D&D under my belt), and while most of my experience is with Dungeons & Dragons (from AD&D to 5E and beyond), I’ve also spent plenty of time exploring other systems like World of Darkness, Shadowrun, Pathfinder 1E, and several Palladium Books games.
I recently picked up interest in Daggerheart, and I’m really intrigued by what I’ve seen so far—especially the focus on narrative arcs and the new mechanical rhythms compared to traditional d20 games. That said, I’m still wrapping my head around how it actually feels to run at the table.
What I’m Looking For:
- Beginner-friendly breakdowns of how to run Daggerheart scenes (especially combats, turns, narrative momentum)
- Any actual play or “Let’s Play” content that leans tutorial-style (video or audio)
- Advice from anyone who’s already tried GMing it — things that clicked, or unexpected hurdles
- Resources for explaining Daggerheart’s systems to players who are used to more traditional TTRPGs
I’m doing my own digging (YouTube, articles, etc.) but if you’ve got a favorite “this helped me understand the flow of play” link, I’d love to hear it!
Thanks in advance — excited to dig deeper into what this system can offer.
