In order to verify my Demiplane account, I was forced to click a link that goes to hubspotlinks(dot)com. That site has been flagged as a potentially malicious tracker. Anyone who uses any sort of adblocker software (which should be everyone) may have trouble verifying their account, or they may choose not to continue because of their privacy concerns.
Remember, even if we 100% trust you, that doesn’t mean we trust every third-party you trusted. I do not want my personal information, including name, IP address, browser, etc., to be logged, tracked, or sold except as reasonably necessary to operate your platform (e. g. login functionality, security measures, etc.).
I came here to learn and play Daggerheart, a game made by and for people who tirelessly campaign for inclusivity and safety in games. Using a third-party link tracking site as a barrier to completing registration feels sinister, exclusive, and unsafe, even if it wasn’t meant to be.
Please remove third-party link tracking from your platform. Your community will thank you!
Not only is this malicious URL redirection in the registration email still in place, email verification in general appears non-functional:
Oops!, something went wrong
There could be a misconfiguration in the system or a service outage. We track these errors automatically, but if the problem persists feel free to contact us.
Please try again.
I am unable to access Demiplane’s login-only features after three attempts in 30 minutes. Ironically, logging into the forum works without completing the email verification step, which is another massive problem in itself.
Firstly: To label this as a malicious URL is a misnomer, Hubspot is a very popular tool for many websites to use for managing e-mail delivery, and has been for over a decade.
Thanks for the report about issues with verification, I’ll let our Support team know. If you continue to encounter issues with verifying your account, I’d recommend reaching out to them directly for assistance: support.demiplane.com
