I only see a Shield listed as a weapon, and it does not seem to add to Deflect. Am I missing something?
I went to go check just to make sure, but it does look like the current rules only list it was a weapon
It does give a defensive action however by letting you use brace without cover

So instead of acting as more/better armor, a shield acts as a portable rock or tree to hide behind.
Game mechanics: instead of adding to Deflect, you can use it to give your adversary disadvantage on attack rolls.
That makes sense now, thank you!
