After adding an item to a character sheet you can then edit items properties to give it a new name or modify other characteristics. You cannot modify the price of the item though. This would be useful if in a game someone gets a unique item or piece of equipment that has a specific value but is not a standard item or if the campaign allows unique items.
Examples:
In our campaigns it is common for characters to retain found jewelry or art objects. I am playing a character that carries an ivory scroll tube found in the adventures with a specific value, but this cannot be added to the sheet except in the other items box as text. The character has several such items.
In the same campaign the GM allowed a character to by a set of explorers clothes that are functionally exactly like explorers cloths for the purposes of rules, but are also Fine clothes from a value and appearance perspective. The total cost for this custom made clothing was the total of both cloths (fine+explorers) plus a markup for the vendor to make them. This item can be added to the character sheet as explorers clothes, and then edited to set its name to Fine Explorer’s Clothes, but its price cannot be adjusted to the proper value.
