I knew better then you trust the demiplane staff. I knew better then to invest in this site but again I didn’t listen and get screwed. Last time I make this mistake. I was hoping for something better then this.
What did they do to earn your ire?…
Roll20 has the tendency to do things very poorly and hard extremely poor customer relations. For example I was running curse of Strahd and myself and other player were lagging. We were told to turn off dynamic lighting because it was bugging out their servers.
Im could you into the so many other technical issue and half completed projects but you get the point.
The Demiplane put out a great product and now I can see it getting the Roll20 touch
Roll 20 doesn’t complete what they say they will. I have invested heavily into roll 20 for PF2 content, instead of delivering on the content listed on the product page, they update and remove what they are no longer doing (in the case of PF2, this was the character builder). They are now, allegedly, trying to fulfill this with Demiplane (I am even more heavily invested in Herolab, but would have enjoyed the Demiplane integration and would be willing to switch). PF2 came out 5 and a half years ago. I have been waiting this long for a functioning builder at Roll 20. I am still waiting. To date, they gave up on the original sheet, started work on a new one. Quit on the new one, have told us that content we have there will be unlocked here. They have fulfilled the four core books, I am still waiting on all the rest. They do not communicate with us at Roll 20, we get more response on their Facebook page and here, but even then, we get no real updates. To say the service at Roll 20 is poor would be an understatement, it is abysmal. I have EVERY core book, lost omens book, stand alone module, and several AP’s for 2e. That is in addition to being a pro subscriber (or plus, whatever the highest is), a few 5e books, cyberpunk (which I also have here at the offered discount), Free League books, and Green Ronin stuff.
As customers, we just want to know what is going on and for it not to take until a new version of the game comes out to get the content we need to use the service. Roll 20 is a disappointment.
Yeesh. Maybe take lessons in learning how to chill.
There’s very little of Roll20 that’ll affect Demiplane. If anything it’ll be the other way around where content bought on Demiplane will mean a redeemable code to get the content on Roll20, and maybe Demiplane’s character builder tools can be copied over to Roll20.
Hopefully there’ll be an API so rolls on Demiplane will transfer to Roll20 or other VTTs, but that’s something that people have been clamouring for.
Besides ineffectual handwringing, I understand Roll20 has issues and I personally don’t like using it anymore for a VTT, but I still fail to see how it’s a net negative for Demiplane users besides current case where some folks just reading “Roll20” gets surly.
Hey man, i get you.
This kind of stuff can seem scary when you invested into products already.
I don’t see this as being an issue though; Demiplane will still be its own thing, it just has to answer to Roll20 essentially.
This kind of stuff happens in business all the time, and as long as Demiplane’s business model remains stable (and at best enhances Roll20 with integration), then its doubtful anyone will change the site or their services.
