How can I search the compendium for creature who are fore instance immune or resistant to piercing damage? Can I also search for creatures who deal acid damage etc?
Those are not currently included as filters in the compendium, but they are all on the list. You’ll likely see the immunities, resistances, and weaknesses first, with damage types dealt coming later.
