I am trying to create a super strong character and I have been reading the core book in order to do this.
According to the size chart, if my character starts out as Big he should have a +1 multiplier to his Melee. Then if he add the Mighty power according to the book on the section Improvised Weapons where they have the Objects & Sizes table, in the 3rd paragraph.
“Certain traits and powers can affect this. For every level a hero has in the Mighty power, for instance, they are treated as one size bigger for these strength related actions.”
Right now my characters damage multiplier is 6.
The character I am making is Rank 3, has the trait of Big, and has Mighty 3.
So in my mind his multiplier for damage should be as follows.
A) 3 Rank + 1 Big + 6 Mighty = 10 for the damage multiplier
or
B) 3 Rank +1 Big + 3 Mighty = 7 for damage multiplier
My reasons for A is because if you look at the size chart at Gigantic it is +4 and at Titanic it is a +6 to the multiplier.
However I can see that B would work because the size chart is if you are using an object to hurt some one and the additional multiplier is partly because you are using the object.
But it still means that the Trait and the multiplier are in correct.
Please let me know how I may be able to resolve this on my character’s Demiplane sheet.
The character’s size is big, which applies –1 to their Melee and Agility defenses, adds +1 to their Run Speed, and increases their reach to 2. They still occupy a single space.
The Big trait does not apply a modifier to the damage multiplier. It just applies modifier to Agility and Melee defenses, run speed, and reach.
I think you’re referring to the Object & Sizes table and that’s only for dealing with objects (such as for lifting/carrying, swinging, and throwing) rather than character size. You should check out the Resize Power Set rules in the Powers chapter (before the Power descriptions section). From there can see that sizes Small and Big don’t change anything.
Also:
Damage multiplier bonuses from size do not stack with other damage multiplier bonuses. Apply the biggest modifier instead.
A rank 3 character (x3 multiplier) with Big (+0 modifier to damage multiplier) and Mighty 3 (+3 modifier to damage multiplier) would just have a Melee damage multiplier of x6. Their lifting capacity would be 4 steps higher than an average character though, as a Gargantuan character (see the Objects & Size table.
I get what you are saying but in my mind it does not make sense, may have to make a house rule.
This quote from the rules is what I am looking at specifically.
“Certain traits and powers can affect this. For every level a hero has in the Mighty power, for instance, they are treated as one size bigger for these strength related actions.”
But I guess the key words here are strength related actions. Sooo since my character is Big and I have Mighty of 3 I can pick up a Cruise ship and use it as a weapon for +6 multiplier for a total of x9 damage. I guess I can live with that.
