One of my players has the Smoking Sword from the beginner’s box.
The sword is supposed to do +1 fire damage always, and if you take the action of Stoke Flames, it should deal 1d6 fire damage for the rest of the round.
I have found no way to implement that damage with the Smoking Sword item.
Can I add to this topic that other equipment is also missing?
[spider’s lair] a shortsword that has a small emerald in the pommel. While the sword isn’t magical, the fine craftsmanship and precious gem make it worth 5 gp if sold.*
[Trapmaster’s Snares] the spike trap**
*I can modify the name of a shortsword, but there is no way to change its value from 9 SP to 5 GP
**according to the rules, if you critical success in disarming a trap, you can rearm the device later. As this trap can be picked up, a critical successfully disarmed trap can be added to the inventory. However, spike traps are locked behind the purchase of player core 2, although they do appear in the beginner box
Sorry that I didn’t respond to this sooner! I remember seeing this post and fixing the issue with the Smoking Sword, I just double checked and it’s fixed and waiting for our next patch.
As far as the Spike Trap and Spider’s Lair are concerned neither of them appear within the Adventure Toolbox which is likely why they’re not independently available. I’ll pass along a request that we add a way to change the value of items in order to accommodate that workaround for Spider’s Lair.
For the spike trap the only rules for it appear within the stat block for the Kobold Trapmaster. This means we’re not able to add it as an item within the Beginner’s Box.
