So I can’t be the only one who saw the Vidgamer background in the Starfinder 2e Playtest and thought of cooking up a horror campaign based on Sonic exe or any other Cursed Video Game creepypasta like Lavander Town or Ben Drowned

I love that idea! Definitely didn’t think of it myself, but it could be a very cool concept.
Back in the early 2000s, I bought an issue of Dungeon Magazine where Monte Cook wrote an article with a very simple, rules light system for playing video game characters… having your PCs digitized like Tron and running them through different scenarios inside the computer. It was a very cool idea, and your post reminded me of it. This could be a LOT of fun in a Starfinder campaign where the players are scanned into a computer running “ancient” software and assume the forms of video game characters like Link, Sonic, or Master Chief!
