Telekinesis - Damage Question

So, another question - but this time with Telekinesis:

Telekinesis
Make a Spellcast Roll against a target within far range. On a success, you can use your mind to lift and move it anywhere within far range of its original position.

If you want to throw the lifted target as an attack, make an additional Spellcast Roll against the target you are trying to hit. On a success, deal d12+4 physical damage using your proficiency, then the spell ends.

My questions are:
If you were to pick up PERSON A on the first half, and then throw said PERSON A at PERSON B, wouldn’t they BOTH take DMG?
Should the above formula be halved and split between PERSON A and PERSON B?
Should they BOTH receive the full d12+4 PDMG?
Or should only PERSON B receive damage because PERSON A is inside of this weird Telekinetic Bubble thingy?

I would rule it as both take full damage, since you essentially have to succeed on a Spellcast Roll against both targets to pull it off, and the spell ends once the throw attack has succeeded.

I like it (mostly because it is the best case), but it makes sense as well. I’ll discuss with my GM if there is concern and go with his ruling ultimately, but I like to air the idea here first to get outside perspectives as well!

That makes sense, your GM might very well have a different point of view, or notice some balance issue I hadn’t. Either way, hope the result works out satisfactorily for you and your fellow players!
