I’m regularly getting loading that is FAR slower than it should be, making the app incredibly difficult to stick with. It makes it increasingly more frustrating to try and use.
I am primarly looking at daggerheart content, but I am having slow loading times across class rules, characters, and adversarys.
My internet is fine and I’m fairly certain it’s not the device.
Thanks for the report, I’m sorry to hear things are loading slowly for you. I’ll have folks take a look at a few things on our end but I’d also recommend trying on another device if you can just to see.
This is definitely not a device or internet connection issue. Demiplane Nexus character sheets slow and rather unresponsive, and I’ve gotten the same feedback from all of my players. Here’s also some very valid feedback from someone struggling with Demiplane, which includes notes about how slow the site is, and especially if used through the Roll20 integration: https://www.reddit.com/r/daggerheart/comments/1mhd9ip/nexus_is_good_but_ive_got_to_look_for_alternatives/
I think there’s some serious upgrades needed for this service in terms of load speeds and responsiveness.
Not only is it slow on all my devices (laptop, Android tablet and iPhone, with a 500 MBit/s connection), but text input in the details and notes screen is torture.
I begin to type and suddenly letters disappear and are replaced. Feels like every single key stroke I make is directly committed to an SQL database and until that roundtrip is done I‘m not allowed to enter another character… if that’s indeed the case please add a debounce of 500ms or similar to the user input before you trigger the database query.
Pre-fetching content might also help a lot with the responsiveness of the builder. Why not have a single request that transmits the JSON content of the rule books I already own into my browser’s cache or local storage? It’s not as if I could „un-buy“ it and lose access to it. And text can be pretty well compressed, so it probably wouldn’t be that much data. The images can stay on the server until required.
But that way the builder could even be used when my device is offline.
+1 on the editing of text on the character sheet. I’ve seen this in the journal entries and especially when editing inventory items on the Daggerheart character sheet. Adding a custom item with text is especially frustrating. At first I thought it my browser (firefox) but trying chrome and edge had identical issues with text entry/editing.
